Parent Faculty Group

Welcome to the Washington Open Parent Faculty Group (WOPFG)!

To help accomplish Washington Open’s mission, each year WOPFG coordinates community building events that also raise much-needed funds to support the whole-child learning programs that our integral to the success of our school. Those funds are used to supplement field trip costs, buy classroom supplies for teachers and students, and to support enrichment programs. WOPFG is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.

WOPFG also provides support to volunteers throughout the year in the form of training/learning opportunities, supplies, and hosting community events.

Board Members

Being a parent-participation school, parents bring a lot to Washington Open.

By joining Washington Open, your family is automatically a member of Washington Open Parent Faculty Group. The WOPFG members elect the Executive Board members in the May General Meeting that is attended by the entire school. Executive Board members typically serve a two-year term.

Additionally, each classroom elects a Board Representative, who attends the monthly WOPFG Board meetings to represent their classroom’s interests and concerns. Your class’s Board Representative will take any issues to the meetings to present, and will email important announcements and updates to you promptly after the meeting.

Board Meetings

The Executive Board of the Washington Open Parent Faculty Group meets once monthly on the second Tuesday in the evenings. The time, location, and agenda of the meeting are posted in advance. All the business of the Parent Faculty Group is conducted at these meetings.

Every Washington Open parent is welcome to attend the Board Meetings! You may also present an item for the agenda by contacting the Board President, or speaking to your classroom's elected Board Representative.

WOPFG hosts a Back to School BBQ community event in the beginning of the school year for the entire WO community to come together after a summer apart and reconnect!
