Library Class Visits & Checkouts

All classes visit the library once a week!

30 minutes for Kindergarten - 3rd graders
40 minutes for 4th-5th graders

Checking Out a Book

Kinder and 1st grade can check out 1 book a week.
2nd-3rd grades can check out up to 2 books a week.
4th-5th grades can check out up to 4 books a week.
There are no late fees in elementary school.
Students will be allowed to check out a new book(s) every week, but the new book(s) will be kept in the classroom until the previous book(s) is returned.
If a book is damaged or lost the student and parents are responsible for the paying for the book.
All books and fees related to lost books are due the last week of school.

Kindergarten

The work of different authors from EASY READER books
Lessons related to parts of a book
Lessons related to how to find a "just right" book

1st Grade

The work of different authors from EASY READER books
Nonfiction sections and themes that relate to what they are studying in the classroom (starting in 1st grade)
Fairy tale, Fables and Folktales and what are their differences (1st-2nd grades)
Lessons related to parts of a book
Lessons related to how to find a "just right" book

2nd-3rd Grade

The work of different authors from QUICK PICKS books
Genres and how to find them (Mystery, Historical Fiction, Science Fiction)
Nonfiction sections and themes that relate to what they are studying in the classroom
Fairy tale, Fables and Folktales and what are their differences (2nd Grade)
Poetry, what types and where to find them (3rd Grade)
Lessons related to how to find a "just right" book
Lessons related to how to use the library

4-5th Grade

The work of different authors from FICTION books
Genres and how to find them (Mystery, Historical Fiction, Science Fiction)
Nonfiction sections and themes that relate to what they are studying in the classroom
Biographies and where to find them?
Lessons related to how to use the library

All Grades

The California Young Reader Medal Nominations and vote on their favorites
