Wednesday Envelopes

A Wednesday Envelope goes home with your child each week.

The envelope may contain letters from the teacher, general school flyers, announcements, and letters from the Principal. Some teachers include your child's classwork, homework, art, etc., for your review. Make sure that you receive the envelope each Wednesday. Read the contents carefully, and return the envelope to school with your child on Thursday. Return any papers that require your signature or authorization, especially GREEN field trip forms, in the Envelope.
 

Class Meeting

The information shared during class meetings is vital. Class meetings may be called at any time by the teacher. The frequency of class meetings is at their discretion. Time, location and agenda are determined by the teacher - your input is always appreciated and needed. 

Classroom Bulletin

Each classroom has a bulletin board or wall for posting class work schedules, field trip schedules, sign-up sheets for activities, etc. Check it for new information when you are in the classroom.

General Meeting

There is a general meeting held at the end of the school year (May) in the evenings in the multipurpose room at school. The date, time and agenda of each meeting are published well in advance of the meeting.

These meetings provide education and information to the parents. All formal business of the Washington Open Parent Faculty Group that requires a vote of the general membership is conducted at the general meetings. Your attendance ensures that your voice is heard in the community.

Classroom Board Representative

Each classroom has a board representative that represents their classroom in the monthly WOPFG Board meetings. They are responsible for sharing via email important events and information once the Board meeting has ended. The Board Representative is also in charge of planning the staff appreciation luncheon, and also the staff appreciation gifts for their classroom teacher and a few additional school staff members.

The Washington Open Classroom Directory is published as soon as possible after the start of school in the fall, by the WOPFG Membership. It contains listings of teachers and their emails; executive Board and committee members; class coordinators; and an alphabetical listing of every family in the Open community with home addresses and telephone numbers, including names of children enrolled at Washington Open. The Directory has a listing of possible substitutes for each classroom, a 'phone tree' for the entire community for last-minute emergency communications, and a listing of parents' workdays.

The Santa Clara Unified School District Board of Trustees holds its meetings at the District Office. Time, dates, and locations of the meetings may be obtained through the District Office, and on our school calendar. District board meeting agendas are posted at school sites throughout the district.
